A-side is not a cover of The Meters' song so much as a song that uses the same Mardi Gras Indian chant, "hey pocky way." The song's tuba riff is also popularly known as "Tuba Fats," named after the late tuba player Anthony "Tuba Fats" Lacen. At least one other recorded version exists, on Dejan's Olympia Brass Band's "Serenaders" album, on the track "Mardi Gras in New Orleans and Tuba Fats."

More recent covers of the same song, in tribute to Fats, were recorded by both the Rebirth and Treme brass bands.
